Gluten Free Firezza Pizza Review: 8/10

Firezza's Gluten Free Pizza a big improvement on the Pizza Express version, although it will cost you more.

I opted for a straightforward Ham and Mushroom Pizza on this occasion. I have in the past enjoyed the standard Firezza Pizza base so was keen to see how the Gluten Free alternative stacked up.

The review is 'based' on three important parts that make a great pizza:

Crust

The crust was crunchy and although not quite as tasty as the standard crust on a Firezza Pizza, it wasn't far off. Much more natural bready texture in comparison to the Pizza Express equivalent: 7.5/10

Base

This was a great attempt at a Gluten Free base and the best I have had in the UK. Had a doughy like texture which is important for folding and flavor. The base also allowed the tomato sauce to soak more naturally into the bread and ensure the topping simply doesn't slide off. Give the Pizza that oneness: 8.5/10

Topping

The Ham and Mushroom is a classic and one of my favorites. I look forward to trying different topping combinations on this excellent base: 8/10

Overall: Best Gluten Free Pizza I have had so far from the UK Pizza chains: 8/10

Cost: £14.99

Tip: Gluten Free offering not so easy to find when ordering online. Worth calling to confirm Order.

Pizza Express Gluten Free Pizza Review: 6.5/10

Pizza Express have had a Gluten Free menu for some time now. The purpose of blogging about Gluten Free Pizza is to share an opinion and a rating with others who are on the lookout for a good alternative to the standard pizza offerings.

The menu can be seen http://www.pizzaexpress.com/our-food/our-restaurant-menu/glutenfree/.

Review based on the Pollo Forza Pizza. Menu description "A fiery pizza; chicken marinated in smoky chilli powder, garlic and dried chilli flakes with chargrilled red & yellow peppers, roquito peppers, mozzarella and tomato, finished with Gran Moravia cheese, parsley and chilli oil." You must request the Gluten Free Base when ordering.

The review is 'based' on three important parts that make a great pizza:

Crust

The crust was super crunchy to the point it has a cracker type texture. Not ideal when compared to a standard Pizza which is more doughy: 6/10

Base

This was slightly better than the crust and a good attempt at a Gluten Free base. Had a doughy like texture which is important for folding and flavor. However, the toppings don't seem to be fully absorbed by the base. A good pizza sees the tomato sauce soak into the base which then holds the cheese and toppings with the bread - making it one: 6.5/10

Topping

The part of the Pizza which isn't necessarily Gluten Free. The Pollo Forza is a nice combination of spice and chicken: 7/10

Overall: This Pizza was better than average and better than offerings from Dominos and Pizza Hut: 6.5/10
